Like Mother, Like Daughter
I love my mom so much. She is the epitome of everything a good mother is. Kind, understanding and caring, with a little bit of tough love thrown in for good measure. My mother was a huge influence in how I approach fashion today. It will suffice to say that she was my first fashion Icon. Clothes should make you feel good, she would say, it does not matter how much it costs. A dollar thrift store piece can look better on you than a hermes piece, but what matters most is that it makes you feel good. It tells a story of who you are, where you came from and what you hope to be. Very valuable advice. I saw a beautiful shot of my mom today and I also saw a gorgeous shot of a dear friend's mom, and that inspired to write an entry about mothers. So here is to the women who make motherhood look so good and stylish.
Bohemian Love: Zoe Kravitz

Where do I start? she is the daughter of rock and bohemian royalty. Her dad is lenny kravitz and her mom is lisa bonet. She was destined to have an interesting life with an interesting style. She wears whatever she wants and somehow looks good. She follows no one or trend and thats what I like about her style. She was born to be a rebel.

Did I say I was not going to talk about RZ?
Forgive me father for I have sinned. I lied. I love Rachel Zoe waaaaaaaaaay too much not talk about her. She was the push I needed to even start this blog. The way she reacts when sees that dress that would make someone's "wow" moment or a vintage chanel corseted dress, I just well... DIE. All dyings aside, I have never seen anyone get so happy about clothing. She has her problems, but we all do, so for those who judge or attack her, just...HUSH. She is a self professed lover of all things vintage, especially fur. I want a vintage fur soooooo bad...I saw this one in Aritzia last week, which I totally adore.....but I digress. RZ knows how spiritually unreal finding that perfect vintage piece for an affordable price can be. I mean its really a mind altering experience, that could last for days, months or years. Anywayzzza I have a few pics of her shutting it down at various fashion shows.
At Carolina Herrera Spring 2010She does it and she does it right: Ashley Olsen

It is no secret (albeit still embarrassing) that i love the Olsen twins. There are so many things I love about them, they are self made women that have managed to keep things relatively low key. They are grounded, humble, have a great love for fashion and art (Mary Kate has an enviable art collection). As with any pair of duo powerhouses, people are prone to pick a team. For example I am team Jake (as opposed to team Edward).....ummm if you dont know what i am talking about...**coughs** twilight**coughs**then it is better you didn't! lol. Anyways when it comes to the Olsens, I love them both, but when it comes to their sense of fashion, I am right now team Ashley all the way. I used to love MK when I was younger so i envied her style, however as i have lets say gotten more matured, I am more drawn to ashley's conservative and minimalist affinity. she is a fan of the blacks, tans, shades of brown and greys. She has the kind of style sensibility that is associated with a seasoned New York Fashionista.

Taylor Jacobson. She is Kinda Crazy, I think I kinda Like Her.

Okay, So I have a not so secret guilty pleasure, The Rachel Zoe Project. I mean it is BA NA NAS. As much as i try to not like Rachel Zoe, I must admit, this woman is amazing. I love how she loves fashion so much, she fantasizes about it. I mean I have never seen anyone so excited about style. Some say she is being really shallow, I say this world is a boring place, and she definitely adds some spice to it. I wish we could all be as excited about our carreers. This world will be a better place. IMHO. But this post is not about her, it is about her assistant Tay Tay. Taylor embodies black and white style queen, I have never seen anyone pull it off so effortlessly stylish. She also loves her Ray Ban Classic Warfarers that she rocks inside. She is the clear definition of the rocker chic you want to be. Black nail polish, black eye liner, platinum blonder hair she uses to hide her very pretty face. She talks kinda emo, and when she laughs it is like spotting a Unicorn. Yet, you can sense she is kind and caring in her own cool way (for example, letting brad fly to Paris). I like this girl. I really do. Here are some pics of her.....
LIKE her.
Black and White: The Revival of Minimalism

I think it is safe to say that Chanel is the Fashion god of Black and White Blissfulness
Thanks to all my fellow fashion lovers, who has visited my site so far, and sent me messages. Muchos Gracia. Okay so I am slightly Stylophrenic. What does this mean? It means, I am constantly evolving, constantly changing, constantly unstable....you know....Annnyway since the end of summer, I started getting very attracted to minimalism. This is a very big change from my marykate-ish mix and match, layer and layers and bright color schema I had took on for the past, I dunno, 5 years (Although I must admit, coming to law school has definitely made me "tone" down my dressing) there is this thing called age too, that happens. What once looked "cool" now just looks "sad". What was my point? oh ya, Minimalism. Right now I am in love with black and white, I feel like I could wear black/white all day and night. Throw in a couple of vintage inspired jewelry, bold statement pieces to add some umpf (afterall, I never want to look average, not that there is anything wrong with average...just not my thing). So what is Minimalism? I think I implicitly defined it, with all my rantings about my stylophrenia, but simply put, it is a way of dressing that is well...simple. Typically, very primary colors, black, white, maybe red (Um, perhaps I do not know my primary colors?) anyway...it is tres conservative, understated yet stylish. Need more clarification? here are some pics of designers and stylistas with the minimalist touch.

Genevieve Jones: NY Socialite turned Zac Posen's muse

She is a very talented Jewelry Designer. Her Safety Pin Earrings are a huge Fall/Winter 09 trend and continue to sell out.

Shuttin' it Down with this vintage flower mini dress. This is one of those pieces that are definitely NOT for everyone.

tres minimalist, tres chic in black and white. I love Black and White. So Chanel, I love Chanel (Really, who doesn't)
Goodnight, Goodmorning.
